Overview

  • Guest Chats is live in the WhatsApp Android beta (version 2.25.22.13) and lets users invite non-WhatsApp contacts via a unique link to a web-based conversation
  • All conversations in Guest Chats are protected by end-to-end encryption so that only the two participants can read messages
  • The feature is restricted to one-on-one text messaging and does not support media sharing, voice or video calls, or group chats
  • Meta’s in-house approach contrasts with earlier third-party chat integrations by ensuring a uniform interface within WhatsApp
  • No official launch date has been announced as WhatsApp continues refining Guest Chats ahead of a wider rollout
