Overview

  • Developers spotted the new Logout option in WhatsApp Android beta version 2.25.17.37 during a teardown by Android Authority and AssembleDebug.
  • The feature presents three choices—Erase all Data & preferences, Keep all Data & preferences, or Cancel—when users initiate a logout.
  • Choosing Keep all Data & preferences retains local chats, media, and settings for instant access on re-login, while the erase option clears them from the device.
  • WhatsApp’s logout option is currently in development and is expected to roll out first to beta testers before reaching the stable release channel.
  • The temporary sign-out capability brings WhatsApp in line with messaging apps like Telegram and Signal by letting users take breaks without uninstalling.
