Overview
- The feature is launching gradually on iOS and Android, with desktop and web availability not yet confirmed.
- iPhone supports more than 19 languages at launch, while Android starts with six: English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic.
- Android users can enable automatic translation for an entire chat so future incoming messages appear in the selected language without manual steps.
- Users translate by long-pressing a message and tapping Translate, and the tool works in individual chats, group chats and Channel updates.
- Language packs must be downloaded to the device, and some content types such as locations, documents, stickers, contacts and GIFs are not supported initially.
