WhatsApp Lets Non-Users Join Calls via Browser Link

It opens end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls to people without WhatsApp accounts while hosts keep waiting-room and removal controls.

Overview

  • WhatsApp announced guest calling on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, enabling account holders to create a call link that non-users can open in a browser, enter a name, and join after host approval.
  • Calls remain end-to-end encrypted, free, and have no time limits, with group support for up to 32 participants.
  • Guests are placed in a waiting room until admitted, cannot see other participants’ phone numbers, cannot send messages or add people, and can be removed by the host at any time.
  • Guest participants can use core in-call tools such as screen sharing, emoji reactions, and a raised hand, but only people with WhatsApp accounts can create call links.
  • WhatsApp said it will add Google and Outlook calendar plugins later this year to let users add WhatsApp call links to invites, a move that brings the app in line with link‑based calling on other platforms and could broaden casual use for tutoring, meetings, and collaboration.
