• WhatsApp released a feature called Channels that lets accounts send one-way updates to followers.
• Users can find Channels in a new Updates tab and follow creators who post text, photos, videos and polls.
• WhatsApp plans to eventually add payment features for creators using Channels.
• Channels messages are not end-to-end encrypted but WhatsApp may add encryption for some groups.
• WhatsApp is launching Channels with select organizations in Colombia and Singapore before expanding to more countries.
