Overview

  • Cindy McCain said WFP deliveries have reached roughly 100 trucks a day, which remains far below needs and insufficient to prevent widespread hunger.
  • After touring Deir al Balah and Khan Younis, McCain described severe devastation and malnutrition and urged unfettered access deep into Gaza.
  • McCain met Israeli military chief of staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir to press for safe routes and faster clearances, and the military said it is committed to enabling aid.
  • An IPC assessment estimated about 514,000 people in Gaza City and nearby areas face famine conditions, a finding Israel rejected as flawed and asked to be retracted.
  • Seven UN independent rights experts reported allegations of enforced disappearances of people seeking aid in Rafah and called on Israel to halt such abuses.
