Overview

• Officers responded around 12:07 a.m. Friday to 33 N. Cass Ave., where a car hit a tree, a light pole and then a building.
• Investigators identified the driver as Peter T. Pierpoulos, 20, of Downers Grove, who was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
• Police said excessive speed preceded the loss of control that left a large hole in a music store near North Cass and East Burlington.
• Charges filed include DUI, DUI over 0.08, speeding, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and damage to village property.
• Pierpoulos was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance as Westmont police continue the investigation.
