Westfleisch Confirms Bid for Vion Slaughterhouses in Germany

The Münster-based processor will detail its offer on July 30 after Premium Food Group appealed the Bundeskartellamt’s June block.

  • The Bundeskartellamt prohibited Premium Food Group’s planned takeover of Vion sites in June, warning it would create excessive market dominance in cattle and pig processing.
  • Premium Food Group has lodged an appeal against the antitrust block at the Oberlandesgericht Düsseldorf, with no hearing date scheduled yet.
  • Regulators confirm that Westfleisch has not filed any preliminary inquiry with the Bundeskartellamt and the company denies having registered its bid.
