Overview

• Railway Vigilance team monitored three UTS counters from 7 PM on July 4 and found Window No. 5 manned by a non-railway individual issuing tickets.
• The outsider, identified as Vinod, confessed to selling tickets on behalf of regular staff and had ₹2,650 in government funds recovered and deposited.
• Western Railway suspended Chief Booking Supervisor Angad Devidas Dhawale, evening-in-charge Ramashankar R, and booking clerks Ganesh Patil and Vijay Devadiga for dereliction of duty.
• Vinod was handed over to the Railway Protection Force and a detailed investigation has been launched into the breach.
• The incident has spurred calls for stricter ticketing protocol enforcement, routine audits and enhanced staff monitoring across zonal railways.
