Western Railway Sixth-Line Block Continues as Central Railway Executes Sunday Mega Block

On the Western Railway section, major infrastructure upgrades are underway to enhance suburban train capacity as part of the Kandivali–Borivali Sixth Line extension project.

Overview

  • Western Railway is in a 30-day traffic block on the Kandivali–Borivali section through January 18, with announced suburban cancellations of 296 on December 27 and 235 on December 28.
  • On Monday, December 29, Western Railway will cancel 98 suburban services, including 49 up and 49 down trains, with several AC and 15-car rakes affected.
  • Central Railway operated a Sunday mega block, diverting fast services between Matunga and Mulund from 11.05 am to 3.45 pm, with trains expected to run about 15 minutes late and Harbour Line services suspended in specified windows.
  • At Borivali, platforms 8 and 9 remain closed until December 29, and several up mail and express trains are not halting at the station during the block.
  • From December 29, certain FOB staircases at Kandivali and Vasai Road stations will be temporarily closed for station improvement works, with newly built staircases provided as alternatives.
