Overview
- The 70th Railway Week central function took place on January 9 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, where Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw presented Shields and individual awards.
- Western Railway emerged as the top Shield winner among zonal railways, taking the Comprehensive Health Care, Non-Fare Revenue, Track Maintenance, and Electrical Engineering Shields outright and sharing Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Construction with Central Railway.
- Roughly 100 railway employees nationwide received individual Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar citations, with seven awardees from Western Railway named across operations, engineering, and accounts roles.
- Citations highlighted frontline vigilance and modernization achievements such as detecting and fixing a broken rail, commissioning electronic interlocking and MSDAC systems, replacing defective OHE components, expediting major civil works, and strengthening financial processes.
- Separately, Ramesh Kumar Koul of Patiala Locomotive Works was reported as an AVRSP 2025 awardee, recognized for contributions in materials management and presented the honor by the Railway Minister.
