Overview
- Western Railway switched Dadar’s 1992 panel setup to a Siemens WESTRACE MK2 electronic interlocking that is now fully operational with 103 routes.
- Electronic interlocking digitally sets and locks train routes and the Dadar installation adds dual detection, audio‑frequency track circuits, integrated power with auto changeover, data loggers and Train Management System facilities with full redundancy.
- Railway teams completed the switchover within a planned traffic block under Dy. CSTE Meethalal Meena without affecting operational safety.
- Dadar links Western and Central Railway with expanding Metro lines and carries hundreds of thousands daily, so fewer failures and quicker recovery should ease crowding and delays.
- Officials expect faster fault detection, higher reliability and easier maintenance as part of Western Railway’s wider signalling modernisation program.
