• Each of Western Railway’s 978 electric and diesel locomotives will receive six STQC-certified cameras to record in-cab video, audio and track conditions
• The CCTV systems operate offline and footage will only be retrieved for probes into accidents or operational anomalies
• Installation is under way across Western Railway’s network with completion targeted by the end of the current financial year
• Trade unions have raised privacy and data-misuse concerns and sought greater consultation on monitoring policies
