Western Railway Begins 30-Day Night Block Between Kandivali and Borivali for Sixth-Line Works

The closure readies the last section required to open the sixth line by late January 2026.

Overview

  • The block runs nightly from 11:00 pm to 4:30 am at least through December 26, with timings to be reviewed, and continues overall until January 18.
  • Passenger use of the fifth line is suspended, trains that normally use it are shifted to the fast line between Andheri or Goregaon and Borivali, and speed restrictions apply elsewhere.
  • Railways listed eight Up and 10 Down trains rescheduled, 112 Up and nine Down regulated, one train cancelled, and two Down trains short-originated.
  • A railway source expects 70–80 suburban locals to be cancelled daily during the period, with station masters providing specific day-by-day details.
  • Some long-distance services will be short-terminated or rescheduled, and several may skip Borivali to halt at Andheri and Vasai Road, with efforts underway to avoid unusual cancellations on December 31.
