Western Digital Releases Urgent Firmware Update for SSDs Affected by Windows 11 24H2 Bug

Users of specific Western Digital and SanDisk SSD models are advised to update firmware to prevent Blue Screen of Death errors in Windows 11 24H2.

The bug affects the Host Memory Buffer feature, causing repeated system crashes and boot loops on certain SSD models after upgrading to Windows 11 24H2.
Impacted models include the WD Black SN770, SN770M, Blue SN580, SN5000, and SanDisk Extreme M.2, all in 2TB configurations.
Western Digital has released a firmware update to resolve the issue, which users are strongly advised to install to avoid system instability.
Microsoft is investigating the problem but has not yet listed it as a known issue for Windows 11 24H2.
Users are cautioned to back up data before proceeding with the firmware update due to the risk of potential data loss.
