Western Australia Bushfire Threatens Cervantes and Nearby Towns

A fast-moving bushfire has burned through 43,000 hectares north of Perth, forcing evacuations and injuring two firefighters.

The bushfire, which began on Monday and may have been sparked by a car crash, is burning 200 kilometers north of Perth in the Shire of Dandaragan.
Residents in Cervantes and surrounding towns have been urged to evacuate as the fire moves westward, with strong winds complicating containment efforts.
Two volunteer firefighters were injured on Wednesday, one with minor burns and another flown to Fiona Stanley Hospital in stable condition.
Over 200 firefighters, supported by water bombers and air tankers, are battling the blaze, which has consumed national parks and scrubland but has not caused property damage or fatalities so far.
Evacuation centers have been established in Jurien Bay, and major roads in the affected area remain closed as authorities warn conditions could deteriorate further.
