Overview

  • On May 25 in Jane Lew, 27-year-old Zachary Williams told police he hurled his 17-month-old stepson head-first into a bed frame out of frustration over crying
  • Emergency responders performed an hour of CPR before the boy was pronounced dead and an autopsy revealed a skull fracture on the back of his head consistent with blunt force trauma
  • Court documents show Williams initially said the child went “rigid and limp” while he was bouncing him before later confessing to throwing him
  • The child’s grandparents reported no signs of neglect apart from a mild cold and the mother said the boy was fine that morning despite occasionally smoking Delta-8 outside the home
  • Williams is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death and is being held at Central Regional Jail without bond
