West Virginia Appoints Jeff Koonz as Interim Defensive Coordinator

Jeff Koonz has been promoted from inside linebackers coach to interim defensive coordinator for West Virginia University.
The change comes as WVU has allowed 99 points over their last three games, highlighting defensive weaknesses.
Jordan Lesley, who has been with head coach Neal Brown since 2016, was let go after serving as defensive coordinator since 2020.
Koonz previously served as co-defensive coordinator at Cincinnati and has been with WVU since 2020.
West Virginia, currently holding a 4-4 record, will face Cincinnati on November 9 after a bye week.
