Some West Coast Express trains were cancelled or delayed Tuesday after a train hit a vehicle near Reed Point Way in Port Moody.

Overview

  • A westbound West Coast Express train struck a pickup truck at the Reed Point Marina crossing around 7:30 a.m. on August 12, halting the morning commute.
  • Emergency crews found the driver ejected from the vehicle and transported him to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
  • TransLink temporarily cancelled and delayed at least two westbound trains, including the 6:55 and 7:25 a.m. services, before all trips were reinstated.
  • Port Moody police transferred investigative authority to Canadian Pacific Kansas City police, who now lead the technical review of the incident.
  • Initial findings indicate the pickup may have failed to yield at the crossing, and investigators are examining right-of-way compliance.
