Overview

  • About 3.19 lakh candidates wrote the SLST for Classes 9–10 across 636 centres, with WBSSC reporting no major glitches and turnout near 91%.
  • Question papers and OMR sheets carried confidential, traceable identifiers, with barcode admit-card checks, sealed trunks, metal-detector frisking, and strict device bans.
  • For transparency, candidates were allowed to take home their question papers and carbon copies of their OMR sheets for the first time.
  • The drive seeks to fill 35,726 assistant-teacher posts under Supreme Court timelines, with 1,806 flagged candidates barred from appearing as per the published list.
  • Roughly 31,000 applicants came from other states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, prompting political reactions, and the second phase for Classes 11–12 is slated for September 14 at 478 centres.
