Overview
- Constable Jumma Khan, posted as Humayun Kabir’s personal security officer, filed a written complaint at Saktipur police station alleging the MLA’s son assaulted him after he sought leave.
- The complaint says the incident occurred at Kabir’s ground-floor office in the Saktipur police station area in front of members of the public.
- Officers visited Kabir’s residence, detained Golam (Ghulam) Nabi Azad—also known as Robin or Sohel—for questioning, and said an investigation is underway with further legal action to follow as warranted.
- Kabir denied the allegation, claimed the PSO entered his private office without permission and was pushed out by his son, and announced plans to gherao the Murshidabad SP’s office on January 1.
- A senior district police officer disputed that the constable requested leave, while the TMC stated the matter is a legal issue and noted Kabir was recently suspended after a Babri Masjid–style mosque row and launched the Janata Unnayan Party.
