Overview
- The cabinet approved adding 76 castes to West Bengal’s Other Backward Class list, expanding it from 64 to 140 recognised groups.
- A new Farakka subdivision was carved out of Murshidabad, comprising Farakka, Shamsherganj, Suti-1 and Suti-2 blocks to ease administrative bottlenecks.
