Wes Ball to Direct Film Adaptation of 'Ruiner' for Universal Pictures

The cyberpunk action shooter video game will be brought to the big screen with a screenplay by Michael Arlen Ross.

'Ruiner' is set in a dystopian 2091 and follows a protagonist battling a corrupt system to rescue his kidnapped brother.
The film will be produced by 87North, Story Kitchen, and Oddball, with several key figures from successful video game adaptations involved.
Universal Pictures has previously seen success with video game adaptations like 'Super Mario Bros. Movie' and 'Five Nights at Freddy’s'.
Wes Ball is also working on a live-action adaptation of 'The Legend of Zelda' and has directed the 'Maze Runner' trilogy and 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes'.
Reikon Games, the original creators of 'Ruiner', will have executive producers involved in the film.
