Werner Herzog to Receive Lifetime Achievement Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival

The legendary filmmaker remains creatively active with multiple projects as the 82nd Venice Film Festival announces the honor.

Werner Herzog will be honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, scheduled for August 27 to September 6, 2025.
Herzog expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a 'medal for his work,' while affirming that he has no plans to retire.
The filmmaker recently completed a documentary titled 'Ghost Elephants' in Africa and is currently shooting a feature film, 'Bucking Fastard,' in Ireland.
Additional ongoing projects include an animated adaptation of his novel 'The Twilight World' and voice acting in Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming animated film.
Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera praised Herzog as a trailblazer in German Cinema and a visionary who continually pushes the boundaries of filmmaking.
