Welcome Corps Marks One-Year Anniversary with Over 7,000 Refugees Resettled

The State Department's refugee sponsorship program plans expansion with a labor sponsorship pathway in 2024.

The Welcome Corps, a private sponsorship program for refugees, celebrates its one-year anniversary with over 15,000 Americans sponsoring more than 7,000 refugees.
Refugees from around the world, including Ukraine, Venezuela, and Afghanistan, have been resettled in the United States through the program.
The Welcome Corps on Campus initiative has enabled U.S. colleges and universities to play a significant role in resettling refugee students.
The program has recently expanded to allow Americans to refer specific refugees for resettlement in the U.S. directly to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
In 2024, the Department of State plans to launch a labor sponsorship pathway, Welcome Corps at Work, to match skilled refugees with U.S. employers in industries such as hospitality, healthcare, and technology.
