Weeklong Rail Shutdown Between Gavà and Sitges Starts Monday for Castelldefels Track Works

Renfe is deploying 55 buses with 41,000 daily seats to keep passengers moving during Adif’s track reconfiguration at Castelldefels.

Overview

  • The closure affects Rodalies R2 Sud and R2 services and Regional lines R14, R15, R16 and R17 throughout the seven-day intervention.
  • Regional trains toward Barcelona will end at Cunit, with bus connections every 30 minutes to the Zona Universitària area and onward metro L3 links from Diagonal.
  • Direct and semidirect buses will run from Sitges and Gavà, with additional services serving Garraf, Platja de Castelldefels and Castelldefels.
  • Bus boarding points sit next to most station buildings, except in Sitges (Passeig de Vilafranca near Can Robert, about 400 meters from the station) and Castelldefels Platja (Passeig Marítim, three blocks away).
  • Works will reorganize tracks to separate commuter and medium/long-distance traffic, with test trains scheduled without passengers on Sunday 28 and a planned return to normal service on Monday 29; Adif also foresees a later Garraf tunnel maintenance phase that will impose single-track operation for at least three months.
