Weekend Shutdown at Lancaster’s Route 30/222 Interchange for Ramp Bridge Demolition

The work removes the old Route 30 east–to–Route 222 north bridge as part of a $72 million overhaul scheduled to finish in 2027.

Overview

  • PennDOT will close eastbound and westbound Route 30 and the Route 222 bridge over Route 30 from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, weather permitting.
  • Official detours are posted for four movements, including a Route 501Route 222–Duke Street–Route 23 path for Route 30 east and a Route 272–Jake Landis Road–Butter Road path for Route 30 east to Route 222 north.
  • Drivers should expect congestion and periodic 15-minute traffic stops on the Route 222 southbound to Route 30 westbound movement for overhead sign installation.
  • If weather prevents the work, PennDOT will shift the closure to Oct. 17–20.
  • Local outlets published dashcam previews of the detour routes that may take travelers through Lancaster City or along Route 272/Oregon Pike.
