Overview

• In West Garfield Park, a 19-year-old woman was shot in the face and neck late Friday and remains in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital with a person of interest in custody.
• A house party in Harvey Saturday evening left four guests and a 4-year-old boy with non-life-threatening wounds and in stable condition at area hospitals.
• A concealed-carry license holder at the Harvey gathering returned fire on two armed suspects, killing one and injuring the other, who is now detained.
• Early Sunday in Back of the Yards, three masked gunmen ambushed an off-duty CPD officer who returned fire and suffered a minor hand injury from broken glass.
• COPA has launched a use-of-force investigation into the officer-involved shooting and the officer is on administrative duties for at least 30 days.
