Overview
- A series of separate crashes over the weekend left multiple dead and several injured across Germany and Austria, with incidents reported on national and regional roads and in small towns.
- On the B470 near Dietersheim three women (ages 73, 69 and 69) died at the scene after a frontal collision and the 36-year-old Mercedes driver was taken to hospital with severe injuries and a provisional alcohol test above 1.0‰.
- Between Fulda and Hünfeld a Mercedes hit a tree, the 78-year-old driver later died in hospital, police suspect a medical emergency and ordered a blood test plus seizure of the vehicle and body for further analysis.
- Other fatal weekend accidents included a truck–motorcycle collision near Neuwied that killed a 38-year-old rider and his 33-year-old passenger, a fatal single-vehicle crash near Dresden that killed a 62-year-old Vito driver, and a B3 crash near Rastatt in which a 19-year-old passenger died; all scenes remain under investigation.
- Public prosecutors have seized wrecks, ordered blood analyses and appointed independent technical experts to reconstruct crash dynamics, a process that will prolong road closures and lead to criminal inquiries while local communities cope with fatalities.
