Community advocates say the unexpected weekend reporting order aimed to draw supervised-release immigrants into detention.

Overview

  • ICE sent Spanish-language texts to Bay Area residents in Alternatives to Detention and Intensive Supervision programs, ordering them to report to the Tehama Street office on Saturday or Sunday or face an infraction.
  • The Tehama Street building remained locked throughout the weekend despite dozens of immigrants showing up and protesters gathering outside with chants and signs.
  • Immigration attorneys and accompaniment teams counseled more than 50 participants on their rights and helped document their compliance attempts at the scene.
  • Four individuals were arrested after responding to a similar weekend summons at an ISAP office in Fresno, reinforcing fears of a detainment ploy.
  • ICE has not provided any comment on the weekend summons even as protests such as San Francisco’s No Kings Day marches challenge President Trump’s deportation strategy.
