Overview
- I-94 will close from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, to allow bridge work near the State Capitol.
- Westbound traffic will be shut between I-35E and Dale Street, and eastbound lanes will close between Highway 280 and University Avenue East.
- Posted detours route drivers via I-35E, Highway 36 and Highway 280 depending on direction of travel.
- Crews will take the bridge down piece by piece as part of MnDOT’s nine-bridge repair effort over I-94 and I-35E.
- The refurbished span is planned to reopen next year with a new deck, rebuilt sidewalks, updated bike lanes and accessibility upgrades, with about $16 million budgeted; related closures include eastbound Hwy. 55 all weekend, an overnight I-494 shutdown for a concrete pour, and a long-term ramp closure from northbound I-35W to eastbound I-494 through Nov. 16.
