Weekend Engineering Blocks to Disrupt Mumbai Suburban Rail on Western and Central Lines

Officials say the works will temporarily alter usual service patterns to enable safety upgrades.

Overview

  • Western Railway will enforce a 13-hour block from 23:00 on January 3 to 12:00 on January 4 between Grant Road and Mumbai Central to re-girder Bridge No. 5.
  • During this period, UP Slow services shift to the UP Fast line between Mumbai Central and Churchgate and Down Slow services run on the Down Fast line between Churchgate and Mahim with no halts at Mahalaxmi, Prabhadevi, Matunga Road, Lower Parel or Mahim.
  • A simultaneous 7.5-hour block on the Down Slow line for dismantling the Prabhadevi road over bridge will run from 23:30 to 07:00 with some services cancelled or short-terminated and reverse travel allowed on the same ticket for specific connections.
  • Central Railway will conduct a Main Line block on January 4 from 11:05 to 15:55 between Matunga and Mulund, diverting slow services to fast lines with halts at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund and about 15-minute delays expected.
  • All Trans-Harbour services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will be suspended on January 4 from 11:10 to 16:10 with specified up and down trains cancelled and passengers advised to plan journeys and check updates.
