Overview
- Severe thunderstorms on Friday brought heavy rain, strong gusts and hail to many areas and prompted emergency responses in parts of southern Germany.
- Forecasters expect a general easing for the weekend with the sunniest and warmest conditions in the south and southeast where highs reach about 22–28°C.
- Northern and coastal regions will remain more unsettled with clouds, repeated showers and fresh to strong southwesterly gusts, and exposed sites can see stormy winds.
- The Deutscher Wetterdienst has issued targeted warnings, including Warnstufe 2 in numerous Bavarian districts, and warns that showers and locally strong thunderstorms with storm gusts, heavy rain and possible hail are likely from Monday.
- Residents are advised to secure loose objects, avoid exposed coastal or highland areas in strong winds, and follow local DWD alerts because brief heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and falling branches.
