Weather Pushes Cool Schools Polar Bear Plunges to Feb. 4–5

The change follows a weather forecast that prompted Special Olympics Maryland to adjust on-site operations for safety.

Overview

  • Special Olympics Maryland confirmed to WBAL-TV on Jan. 26 that the student-focused plunges are moving to next week.
  • Maryland Cool Schools will run on Feb. 4 and Anne Arundel Cool Schools on Feb. 5 at Sandy Point State Park.
  • The rescheduled school events will not include entertainment or hospitality tents, with a quick arrive–plunge–depart format.
  • Police & Public Safety (noon) and Corporate (3:30 p.m.) plunges remain scheduled for Jan. 30, with Maryland plunges at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Jan. 31.
  • The RPCS/St. E's plunge and the Allegis Plunge are set to proceed on Feb. 3.
