Overview

  • The Senior TT was first set to start at 10:45 on June 7 but was delayed twice and reduced from six to four laps in a bid to find a weather window.
  • Riders reported over 30 mph gusts on the exposed Snaefell section plus lingering damp patches that compromised traction and stability.
  • Clerk of course Gary Thompson held a riders-only meeting before announcing at 6:30 pm that conditions were unsuitable and the race would be cancelled.
  • This marks only the second time the Senior TT has ever been called off and leaves no further opportunity to reschedule due to limited road-closure slots.
  • Dean Harrison had led the week’s standings as pre-race favourite, but the blue-riband contest ended without a winner after a weather-marred fortnight.
