Overview
- Kearney High School, Kearney Junior High and Southview Elementary entered temporary lock-and-teach status after a weapon was discovered on the South Campus.
- Kearney Police, the Clay County Sheriff and a district security officer responded to a disturbance reported outside the junior high.
- Administrators and officers recovered the weapon from a parked vehicle in the tennis courts lot, and normal operations were restored by mid-morning.
- Two juveniles were taken into custody without incident, no injuries were reported, and authorities have not disclosed the type of weapon.
