Weak Cold Front Moves Across Florida, Bringing Cooler Nights in the North

Behind the boundary, drier north–northeast flow replaces humidity, with only isolated severe storms near the AlabamaFlorida line.

Overview

  • By midday Sunday, the front was progressing across northern Florida and will push through central areas overnight into Monday before reaching South Florida during the day Monday, according to NWS/WPC guidance.
  • Nighttime lows fall most in the Panhandle and north to the upper 50s to low 60s Fahrenheit, while daytime highs largely hold in the mid-80s and can approach 90 in central and southern Florida.
  • Rainfall remains limited, with around a quarter inch expected in parts of the Panhandle, an amount insufficient to ease ongoing severe to extreme drought there.
  • Winds shift to the north and northeast behind the front at roughly 10–15 mph with higher coastal gusts, and marine forecasts note seas around 4–6 feet in some coastal zones.
  • A low-end Level 1 severe risk early Sunday targets south Alabama and northwest Florida with the potential for gusty winds and a brief tornado.
