WBSSC Publishes ‘Tainted’ List of 1,804, Cancels Admit Cards as SC-Monitored Exams Hold for Sept. 7 and 14

Court oversight continues with a deadline to finish recruitment by December 31, 2025.

Overview

  • The commission posted names and roll numbers of 1,804 disqualified candidates on its website in compliance with the Supreme Court’s August 28 order by Justices Sanjay Kumar and Satish Chandra Sharma.
  • Admit cards for those on the list were invalidated, with the WBSSC notifying centers and issuing supplementary lists that identified 1,140 applicants in Classes IX–X and 1,020 in Classes XI–XII whose cards now stand canceled.
  • The bench refused to shift the written tests set for September 7 and 14, after earlier upholding the annulment of about 25,753 2016 SLST appointments and permitting untainted teachers to work on an interim basis until year-end 2025.
  • Figures disclosed earlier by officials—5,303 tainted across teaching and non-teaching posts including roughly 1,803 teachers—contrast with the 1,804 names now published, a list the CBI is reported to have supplied based on allegations of bribery, rank-jumping and tampered or blank OMRs.
  • The WBSSC also opened a fresh drive to fill 8,477 non-teaching posts with applications scheduled from September 16 to October 31 under new rules that include experience weightage and OMR transparency safeguards.
