Overview
- Phase 1 registration opened Monday, Sept 7 and remains open until Sept 8 at 11:59 PM for candidates to pay a one-time non-refundable fee of Rs 250 and submit choices for over 36,000 vacant seats.
- WBJEEB has allocated 33,857 engineering and architecture seats and 2,634 pharmacy seats to be filled through the decentralised rounds aimed at reassigning vacancies from government, university and private institutes.
- Round 1 merit and allocation lists are scheduled for publication on Sept 10 with on-portal provisional admission, seat-acceptance payments and institute-level physical document verification to follow in the days after.
- The board will auto-classify applicants into five categories and apply a strict merit order — WBJEE rank first, then JEE Main rank, then Class 12 (HMR) rank — while choices submitted in each Active Window carry no order of preference and are frozen when the window closes.
- A revised counselling brochure was issued after students and teachers raised concerns; candidates who already took centralised counselling may join the decentralised process but cannot seek the same college-course combination they have already been admitted to.
