Overview

• Waymo has added new service areas across Los Angeles County, including Playa del Rey, Echo Park, Silver Lake and Sunset Boulevard, and extended coverage on the San Francisco Peninsula into Brisbane, South San Francisco, Millbrae and Burlingame.
• The company has applied for a permit from the New York City Department of Transportation to operate its autonomous vehicles with safety specialists behind the wheel in Manhattan next month.
• Under current New York state law, autonomous vehicles must have a human operator ready to assume control, and Waymo is lobbying for regulatory changes to allow fully driverless service.
• Waymo One’s fleet of over 1,500 Jaguar I-Pace SUVs currently delivers more than 250,000 paid rides each week across Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin.
• The company plans to launch robotaxi services in Atlanta, Miami and Washington, D.C., in 2026 and aims to grow its vehicle count to approximately 3,500 by that time.
