Waymo Debuts 'Ojai' Robotaxi, Zeekr-Built Van Set for U.S. Rollout Later This Year

The Ojai brand fronts a Zeekr-built, purpose-designed van that uses Waymo’s sixth-generation hardware to enable wider U.S. deployment this year.

Overview

  • The vans are manufactured by Zeekr in China, then shipped to an Arizona facility where Waymo installs its sixth-generation autonomous driving system.
  • The vehicle’s sensor suite includes 13 cameras, four LiDAR units, and six radars plus heaters, wipers, and fluid sprayers to maintain performance in snow and grime.
  • Waymo says Ojai will enter service across its markets as the company targets expansion into more than 20 additional cities in 2026.
  • Employees, family, and friends are already hailing the van in San Francisco and Phoenix, a typical final step before public availability.
  • Ojai will operate alongside new Hyundai Ioniq 5 robotaxis while Jaguar I‑Pace vehicles remain in service and continue to be delivered from prior orders.
