Overview

• On August 4 a four-year-old girl was found unconscious in the Lagoon area of Waterworld and died shortly after CPR and resuscitation efforts at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
• Waterworld lifeguards and West Midlands Ambulance Service crews, supported by the Midlands Air Ambulance, performed poolside CPR and advanced life support before hospital transfer.
• Staffordshire Police opened a criminal inquiry to determine the circumstances of the incident and urged the public to avoid speculation.
• Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s environmental health team launched a full health and safety probe in collaboration with the park and police.
• Police continue to appeal for witnesses to call 101 quoting incident number 460 as the girl’s next of kin receive specialist support.
