Water Outages Hit East Grinstead After Storm Goretti as Ministers Intervene

Supplies are not expected to return to normal before the end of the weekend.

Overview

  • South East Water reported reduced treatment capacity and multiple burst mains from freeze–thaw conditions, exhausting local storage in the East Grinstead area.
  • Around 16,500 homes in East Grinstead had no water or low pressure, with further disruptions reported in Tunbridge Wells and parts of the Maidstone area.
  • Two bottled-water stations are operating at Sainsbury’s on Brooklands Way and Queensway Car Park, open until 10pm Saturday and reopening at 9am Sunday.
  • Tankers are supporting the network and priority deliveries are being made to customers on the Priority Services Register.
