Water Main Break Floods Northwest Calgary, Prompts Rescues and Boil-Water Advisory

Overview

  • The rupture near Sarcee Trail and 16 Avenue NW flooded the area under the CP rail bridge at 69th Street NW, forcing closures on the Trans-Canada from Sarcee Trail to Home Road.
  • About 2,000 homes and 100 businesses are affected, with a boil-water advisory for parts of Montgomery, Parkdale and Point McKay.
  • The Calgary Fire Department rescued 13 people from seven vehicles trapped in floodwater, and officials reported no serious injuries.
