Overview

  • Water service was restored to all 9,200 affected households around 2:37 a.m. Monday after LADWP crews welded in a replacement section for the broken 54-inch pipeline valve
  • A boil-water advisory remains for about 31,000 residents as water samples undergo an estimated 18-hour lab testing cycle before the notice can be lifted
  • Crews completed a 20 to 25-foot excavation near oil pipelines, fiber-optic lines and gas mains to access and remove the faulty valve under extreme heat
  • Officials continue urging residents to conserve water and keep taps closed where possible to maintain pressure required for final system repressurization
  • Five emergency support sites are open daily for bottled water distribution, showers, restrooms and laundry services until full service and safety confirmations are secured
