Wasim Haq, a council member of the Football Association (FA) and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), has been removed from his role at the LTA and suspended from his duties at the FA for a controversial social media post comparing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler.
The post, which Haq has since deleted, was deemed 'unacceptable' and 'highly offensive' by both the FA and LTA.
Haq has apologized for the post, denying any anti-Semitic intent and stating that his comparison was based on the perceived harm caused by both individuals to 'victimised communities on both sides of this tragic conflict.'
Haq's removal from the LTA and suspension from the FA follow investigations launched by both organizations into the social media post.
Haq also serves on the board of England Golf, but there has been no statement from the organization regarding his post or his role.
