Washington Man Survives Five Days Lost in Wilderness After Falling From Tree

A late-night 911 call sparked a multi-agency search that located him at dawn near Suquamish.

  • A resident called 911 around 12:30 a.m. Saturday after hearing his faint distress calls in the woods near Suquamish
  • Search teams from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Explorer Search and Rescue, Kitsap Search Dogs, Olympic Mountain Rescue and Suquamish Tribal Police located him around 7:00 a.m.
  • North Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews transported him to St. Michael’s Medical Center for evaluation where his condition remains unclear
  • The USDA Forest Service advises hikers to plan routes carefully and carry essentials including food, water, maps and survival gear to prevent disorientation
