Mariota, 31, played a pivotal role in two key victories during the 2024 season, stepping in for injured starter Jayden Daniels.
The former No. 2 overall draft pick has thrown for 16,184 yards and 97 touchdowns across his 10-year NFL career, with additional contributions as a rusher.
The Commanders have bolstered their roster this offseason with notable additions, including wide receiver Deebo Samuel and left tackle Laremy Tunsil.
Mariota is expected to continue providing mentorship to Daniels, who praised the veteran's guidance and leadership throughout his rookie season.
