Kicker Austin Seibert was placed on injured reserve by the Washington Commanders on Tuesday, two days after missing two extra points and a field goal in a close game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Seibert had recently returned from a right hip injury that sidelined him for two games earlier this month, but it remains unclear if the IR designation is due to the same injury or a new issue.
Despite his struggles in the Dallas game, Seibert had been reliable earlier in the season, making 22 straight extra points and 25 of 28 field goal attempts before his injury.
The team signed running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. to the active roster, addressing depth concerns as Austin Ekeler (concussion) and Brian Robinson Jr. (ankle sprain) recover from injuries.
Backup kicker Zane Gonzalez, who performed well during Seibert's earlier absence, remains on the practice squad and is eligible for one more game-day elevation without a full roster promotion.
