Washington Boy, 13, Arrested Over Online Threats as Deputies Seize 23 Guns

Investigators say many of the weapons were untraceable and possibly 3D‑printed.

Overview

  • An internet watch group’s tip about threats to kill prompted Pierce County deputies and SWAT to arrest the 13-year-old around 1 a.m. Saturday in the Parkland area.
  • Deputies recovered 23 firearms, several boxes of ammunition, and loaded magazines marked with “school shooter” writings, along with photos and writings indicating fixation on past attackers.
  • Some guns were mounted on walls or otherwise unsecured in the home, and many lacked serial numbers, with several appearing to be homemade using a 3D printer, according to the sheriff’s office.
  • The boy pleaded not guilty in juvenile court to multiple counts, including a threat to bomb or injure a school and unlawful possession of firearms, and he remains held at Remann Hall.
  • Detectives are serving warrants on electronic devices and interviewing adults from the home; no parents have been charged as of Tuesday, and the boy has not been enrolled in school since 2021.
